West Virginians Walk to Raise Suicide Awareness

On Sept. 24, members of the Parkersburg, W. Va., call center participated in the Out of the Darkness Walk. The event raised awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.

For one month prior to the event, employees raised $1,050 for the cause with a white elephant sale, raffles and other fundraisers.

In addition to the two-mile walk, the event included a celebration of life ceremony, and tables and activities that provided suicide prevention information.
