NJHS Coat Drive a Success!
During the month of October, the National Junior Honor Society of St. Mary’s School in East Islip sponsored a coat drive for those in need. The fifteen members of NJHS encouraged students from all grades to support the coat drive by bringing in clean, gently used coats. All in all, 247 coats were collected and given to the parish of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal in Wyandanch. Inside the pocket of each of the donated coats was a handwritten note from a student wishing the user to stay warm this winter. Faculty Advisor Mrs. Michele Picardi said, “We are so happy with the enthusiastic response shown by the St. Mary School family. Student Chapter President John Carpin said, “It feels really good to know that all the hard work we did will help so many people stay warm this winter. With all that we have been given at St. Mary’s, it’s nice to have the opportunity to give back.”
