East Brooklyn Community High School Students Participate in Charity Champions to Raise Funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

As participants in this year’s Charity Champions program, students at East Brooklyn Community High School held The Penny Wars, a yearlong fundraising competition to raise money and awareness for their charity, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Faculty and special guests gathered at the final round of Penny Wars as Optimum Community awarded the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with $1,000 donation on behalf of the students, after which students were treated to a pizza party to celebrate the winning team’s fundraising efforts.

The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS exists to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients. They are the voice for all blood cancer patients and work to ensure access to treatments for all blood cancer patients.
