Hoboken High School Students Participate in Charity Champions

Optimum Community recognized student members of the Hispanic Culture Club at Hoboken High School for their participation in this year’s Charity Champions program. The school received $500 in seed money to further their fundraising efforts, along with $1,000 to be donated to the students’ charity of choice, the American Heart Association. Mayor Dawn Zimmer joined the event and thanked the students for their commitment to the charity, speaking on the importance of community service. Student advisor Christopher Munoz discussed the school’s fundraising efforts throughout the year and their participation in Charity Champions. A representative from the American Heart Association, Sharon Morra, was present to accept the donation and spoke about the mission of the organization, especially with regard to Latina women.

“I’d like to thank the student members of the Hispanic Culture Club involved in the Charity Champions program for their commitment and enthusiastic support,” said Mayor Zimmer. “It’s clear that the American Heart Association’s Go Red Campaign is a cause particularly close to their hearts, a cause that they believe in. I’d also like to thank Optimum Community for recognizing the dedication of these young people.”
