Keyport High School Students Participate in Charity Champions

Mayor Harry M. Aumack II joined Optimum in recognizing students at Keyport High School for participating in this year’s Charity Champions program from Power to Learn. Charity Champions promotes volunteerism in schools by encouraging students to compete with other area schools in raising money for a charity of their choice. Over 200 students were in attendance for the check presentation, which took place during the school’s Senior Awards. Keyport High School was presented with $500 to further their fundraising efforts, as well as $1,000 to be donated to Restore the Shore, a local non-profit organization dedicated to helping families whose homes were devastated by Superstorm Sandy. Keyport was an area hit hard by the superstorm, so this charity was especially meaningful to the students because it benefits the community in which they live.

“I would like to thank each of the students involved with this program who are dedicated to raising funds to help rebuild the homes here in Keyport and Union Beach,” said Mayor Aumack. “Because of young people like yourselves our communities are recovering from the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. I commend Cablevision Power to Learn for making programs such as this available to our students and thank them for their generosity.”
