Southampton High School Students Receive Charity Champions Donation for Long Island Cares, Inc.

Optimum Community hosted a Charity Champions check presentation at Southampton High School, where student members of the Rotary Interact Club chose Long Island Cares, Inc. as their charity for this year’s program. Optimum Community was delighted to reward the Club with a $1,000 donation at their Bingo Night fundraiser, at which all proceeds went to their charity.

Long Island Cares, Inc., founded by the late Harry Chapin, brings together all available resources for the benefit of the hungry on Long Island and provides for the humanitarian needs of the community.

“Many of us do not realize just how many children and adults on Long Island go to sleep hungry at night,” said Town Supervisor Schneiderman. “With our comfortable lives, it is very easy to forget those in need. For this reason, I applaud the students involved in the Charity Champions program for their commitment to helping others. They are terrific role models. I also commend Optimum Community for continuing to make this program available to the students in our area.”
