Northport High School Students Raise Funds for the Ecumenical Lay Council Food Pantry of Northport - East Northport

Northport High School held a soup-dinner fundraiser at which invited guests were encouraged to buy a simple soup, salad and bread dinner along with a commemorative student-crafted bowl in exchange for a cash donation. Special guest Suffolk County Legislator William Spencer was on hand as Optimum Community presented a $1,000 donation to the Ecumenical Lay Council Food Pantry of Northport - East Northport on behalf of the Northport students who are competing in Optimum’s Charity Champions program; all proceeds from the evening’s event also went to the charity. Northport students had previously worked on creating and decorating the unique bowls, and local businesses were asked to donate the food. br>
The Ecumenical Lay Council Food Pantry of Northport – East Northport is a volunteer charity group representing a cross-section of churches and synagogues in the Northport, East Northport and Centerport area, providing food and support for families in need as well as the traditions of donating Thanksgiving turkeys, Christmas presents (adopt a family), Easter baskets, Birthday bags and school supplies.
