Mt. Sinai High School Students Receive Charity Champions Donation

Optimum Community hosted a Charity Champions check presentation at Mt. Sinai High School with Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker during the school’s 17th annual holiday dinner for underprivileged children. Principal Robert Grabel, SADD advisors John Wilson and John McHugh and over 25 student club members participated in the presentation that included a $1,500 check presented to Holiday Magic founder, Charlie Russo. The SADD program also raised $8,500 through their ‘turkey trot’, making the total donation to Holiday Magic $10k.

Holiday Magic is a non-profit organization that provides holiday gifts for those less fortunate. More than 60 children received holiday gifts and a dinner for their family thanks to Holiday Magic.

“It’s very easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season and forget that many of our neighbors in need may not be able to buy presents for their children,” said Legislator Anker. “The young people participating in this program today are true role models who are committed to helping make the holidays more cheerful for those less fortunate. I applaud them for their efforts and also thank Optimum Community for continuing to make this program available to the students in our area.”
