Meet the Leaders at School
Babylon AP Students Participate in MTL at School Event with Congressman King
AP Government students at Babylon Jr./Sr. High School had the unique opportunity to participate in a special Meet the Leaders @ School taping with Congressman Peter King that focused on the significance of the 9/11 attacks. In preparation for the event, 50 students visited the 9/11 Memorial Museum in Manhattan, participated in classroom discussions and prepared questions for the taping that took place at the school. Congressman King, after first making his opening remarks, participated in a Q&A with the students that covered topics relating to 9/11 and its aftermath. Students asked questions about our nation’s border patrol, cyberterrorism, the role of the media, drone strikes, Homeland Security, and more. Video footage of the students’ previous visit to the 9/11 Memorial Museum was also included in the filming.
“I doubt that any of us can ever forget 9/11 and the impact it has had on our nation. Life will never be the same,” said Congressman King. “Your insightful questions created a terrific dialogue about the many issues related to that tragic day, such as cyberterrorism, terrorist cells in our country, the use of drones, decreasing the size of the military and more. I thank Cablevision for including our young people in programs like Meet the Leaders. Programs such as this are invaluable as they make history come alive.”
