Brookhaven Students Participate in an "Environmental Leadership Forum"
Cablevision invited students from Brookhaven Township high schools to participate in an “Environmental Leadership Forum” with Town Supervisor Edward Romaine at Brookhaven Town Hall. Students from Ward Melville High School, Earl L. Vandermeulen High School, Rocky Point High School, Shoreham Wading River High School, Sachem High School East, Patchogue Medford High School and Mount Sinai High School attended the forum and had the opportunity to discuss key environmental issues with the town supervisor. Supervisor Romaine addressed topics such as the town’s single-stream recycling initiative, open-space preservation, solar arrays, the Carmans River and more. The forum included over 45 students and adults and was moderated by Cablevision’s on-air talent Pat Halpin.
“I would like to thank each of the students participating in today’s event. Their questions were insightful and timely,” said Town Supervisor Romaine. “Forums such as this are a terrific way to discuss important issues affecting our environment. Today’s discussion also heightens community awareness of the steps that Brookhaven has taken in this regard, including the implementation of single-stream recycling. I commend Cablevision for providing our young people with the opportunity to participate in such a valuable program.”
