Tuckahoe High School Students Attend A Habitat For Humanity Build As Part Of Charity Champions
More than 20 Tuckahoe High School students were present in Yonkers, NY for a Habitat for Humanity site build as Optimum Community representatives presented a check donation for the student’s participation in this year’s Charity Champions. The presentation took place at the day’s welcoming ceremony and was attended by school administration and representatives of Habitat for Humanity of Westchester.
As part of the weekend Habitat for Humanity Build-a-Thon in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the students volunteered their time to work on a home that is being built for a local homeless veteran. Founded in 1976, Habitat of Westchester is an organization of thousands of volunteers who seek to eliminate poverty and homelessness throughout Westchester County, and to make decent, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and public action. Habitat invites people from all walks of life to build houses in partnership with families in need.
