Fox Networks And Optimum Community Bring MasterChef Junior To Elementary Students In Hudson Valley

Optimum Community partnered with Fox Networks and the Culinary Institute of America to bring a MasterChef Junior assembly program to fourth and fifth grade students from Hagan Elementary, Ralph Smith Elementary and North Park Elementary schools. The program, designed to promote healthy snacking and eating, included three challenges in which small groups of students participated, first to make their own lemonade, next to create a sandwich from various kinds of healthy bread alternatives, and the last to frost as many cupcakes as possible in a three-minute period.

During the challenges, while their classmates battled it out, students in the audience answered questions to win their own fun prizes. Special guests included Senator Sue Serino, Hyde Park Supervisor Aileen Rohr, Poughkeepsie Supervisor Todd Tancredi and Culinary Institute of America Chef Bruce Mattel.
