There is mounting evidence that GPS (Global Positioning System) may be destroying our own cognitive road maps, hindering our ability to remember how to get places, even those we go every day, without GPS guidance. The media is full of evidence to support this case. Around the world people blindly follow the GPS and are led into oceans, streams, off decommissioned bridges and even past Mount Rushmore, which happens to be mismarked in Google maps’ database.
