Altice Connects, the Smithsonian Channel and the NAACP Bring Exclusive Screening of "The Obama Years" To Medgar Evers College
In celebration of Black History Month, Altice Connects partnered with the Smithsonian Channel and the NAACP to bring an exclusive screening of the documentary The Obama Years: Power of Words to Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn. Smithsonian's hour-long documentary takes a look at the defining moments of Obama's presidency through some of his benchmark speeches. Viewers get a look behind the scenes of the President's writing process along with expert commentary of the speeches. Over 200 students and community members attended the screening, along with special guests NYS Senator Kevin Parker and Dr. Hazel Dukes of the NAACP, who each made opening remarks. After the screening, members of the audience had the opportunity to take part in a panel discussion with Senator Parker, Dr. Dukes, Dr. Claire Jerry of the National Museum of American History and Dr. Maria Delongoria of Medgar Evers College. The Obama Years: Power of Words is currently airing on the Smithsonian Channel.
